Launched on 16 August 2021, Indigo’s national geat2GO service was excited to recently celebrate its 1-year anniversary.
In its first year, geat2GO has helped more than 23,000 people Australia-wide purchase over 40,000 assistive devices and equipment and provided additional support and AT (assistive technology) advice to meet individual independence goals; with geat2GO customers recording an average satisfaction rating of 9.1 out of 10 on geat2GO overall performance.
Those are some BIG achievements.
A morning tea celebration provided an opportunity to highlight these achievements and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our staff over the last 12 months.
geat2GO is an Australian Government initiative under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) which allows older people to access helpful devices and equipment, helps close GEAT service gaps, reduce wait times (where an occupational therapist assessment is not required) and gives health professionals more options for sourcing items.
With the Australian Government recently announcing it will be immediately increasing funding by $25 million to expand access to goods, equipment, and assistive technology, with goods available via the geat2GO program, this will allow the service to continue to grow and develop.
The increased GEAT funding is accompanied by an increase in Home Care Packages, and together, these initiatives will contribute towards enabling our older Australians to better enjoy their lives in their own homes for longer.
